My name is Katherine Petusky, and I am beyond excited to be teaching math at MMR! This school holds a special place in my heart as I am a graduate, and I had the wonderful opportunity to student-teach in Honors Math. I graduated from Lansdale Catholic High School and earned my B.A. in Middle Level Education with a minor in Mathematics from La Salle University. I spent the past two years teaching Honors Math at Corpus Christi.
As a math teacher, I aim to make mathematics interesting and relevant, and to teach students that math is “Figure-out-able.” Students will use relationships and connections they know to solve problems. As young mathematicians, we will use the relationships and connections to learn more complex math. Students will be challenged to seek elegant and clever solutions. My goal as a teacher is to instill a passion for thinking and learning within my students while providing them with an educational environment that is encouraging and positive. I hope to instill an eagerness to learn and strong faith values in my students just as my teachers have done for me.
Outside of school, a majority of my time is spent at the ice skating rink. I coach figure skating and have done so for eight years. I love passing on my passion and love of the sport to my students. I am extremely excited to get to know and work with you all this school year!
